Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday appealed to the Central leadership to sanction and support the implementation of Metro Rail projects for Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P Narayana, who led a team of officials from AP to New Delhi, called on Union Minister for Urban Development Manohar Lal Khattar. He presented a detailed representation. Senior IAS officer Anil Kjumar Singhal was present.

Narayana asked the Union Minister for a quick decision on two projects proposed during the erstwhile TDP government and underlined the need to connect Vijayawada Metro with the capital city of Amaravati. He said the revised proposal has already been sent to the Centre for approval.

Narayana brought to the notice of Khattar that Amrit 2 scheme was not implemented in the State during the YSRCP rule. A State government official said the Central Minister responded positively by the representations submitted by

Narayana.
